Homosexuality and Politics. Two issues/questions here?

Q: I'm not discussing whether homosexuality is is right or wrong here, lets get that out of the way. Two issues that have recently come up with this in politics in ca. First off the terms husband and wife have been disbanded and replaced for party A and Party B, and a couple was denied married because they scratched it out and wrote husband and wife (this is already passed. Second issue (not passed as of yet, still in legislation), they want a day to celebrate homosexuality in schools for k-12. The problem I have here is that I believe kindergarten through 6th grade is too early to be dealing with anything sexual (obviously my opinion). I just wanted to know what the community especially in this section thinks, I'm guessing most will disagree with me but either way share your thoughts and your reasons why. understand I'm not trying to be offensive here, just that most people have not heard of this, I want your opinions on the issues not on me. I guess I didn't clarify instead of party a and b, couldn't it just be husband and husband. and I think talkiing about sex of any pick/kind with kindergartens is wrong especially without parent consent @ david, thats was by parent conset though, if its done through an institution it is possible that not every parent would want that. I think the parents should have the bees and bird talks @X, I really don't care if you believe me or not, you can check whats going on in CA legislation if you are curious, I just wanted your thoughts on the topic.

A: Well you see, students do not even learn about sexual things until 5th or 6th grade. So i mean honestly kids probably wont really understand the meaning of the day in the elementary schools. middle schools and high schools would definatley understand the meaning behind the day as tolerance and understanding of those who are different. But at the same time, it would recieve harsh opposition from many different religious groups. So its a toss up. I think maybe middle school or high school is when it should be instituted not elementary school. Kids still think the opposite sex has coooties and referring to the other issue. Its understandable now because of all of the different tolerance issues and other such laws that have come into effect over the past almost decade. That couple should not have tampered with the forms,
