A: Yes it changes the connotation which is obviously what every word we use hinges on. No one wants to be anti-life or anti-choice and they both sound good. Ethnic cleansing sounds worse than genocide and helps make it more undesirable and less easier to ignore. Muslim extremist would be considered a type of terrorist.
