Q: I was born in Mexico but live here in the US. I look white and have green eyes and dirty blonde hair. basically i dont look "mexican" as people like to call it now at work sometimes my boss will say "white washed!" outloud but not in a serious mean way. but my question is, if I look white and all and if im obviously mixed with some kind of european somewhere along the family line then am I really "acting white"? or in all reality am I just being white?
A: What he's trying to say is that culturally, you are not "Mexican." Obviously you are white (your skin tone), but culturally you are American. There are plenty of whites in Mexico. I should know. I live here. However, if they were to go to the USA, and they met your boss, they would probably criticize him for not being "Mexican" enough, too. So I wouldn't worry about it.
