I have a friend who always says

Q: He is my friend, but he doesn't understand that we don't like to be called "white". "White" is outdated and offensive; it's like being called a honky, in my opinion! I'm not saying my friend is a racist (although he is an Italian-Argentine-American, if that helps). I don't think I'm being too sensitive, do you? Because when you get right down to it, I'm actually "Norwegian-Irish-German-Danish-French-American." But, hey, let's not get ridiculous. Qwerty- I'm going for sarcasm, not irony. -sigh- I don't think anybody gets my question.

A: Your attempt at irony is unsatisfying to say the least. I'm disappointed in you. :-\ Sarcasm. Yeah, that one. I get your question. You're saying that since you aren't offended by being called "white" that no one should be offended by being called "black," therefore the label "African-American" should be dropped because there are no such labels as Norwegian-Irish-German-American. This argument has been made countless times before.
