How do Canadians feel about Americans?

Q: my bf is from Quebec and as I've learned more about Canada and spoke to more people from there, it seems as though they don't really like Americans...why?

A: oh yeah and we complain a lot about our politicians in Canada coz they screw up a LOT...but we definitely hate your presidential leaders recently aka that monkey named Bush for example who wrecked the world so many times over. Yeah, you should blame your politicians and all the big guys in power who create this arrogant image for americans so that's the impression that the US extends over to the rest of the world. all this 'best country in the world' stuff really annoys people you know. yeah Canadians don't want to be labelled as Americans if they travel abroad and they don't like them mainly coz Americans always seem to think they're superior to us. There was a poll before how many americans feel that Canada should just be another state, or that there was stuff on tv where americans mock Canadians for being farmers. I remember visiting Chicago couple years ago on my thirteenth summer and the girl at the Sears Tower didn't even know where Canada was...said she never heard of it. Either complete ignorance or plain arrogance to acknowledge canadian existence, I don't know. Canadians also think that Americans are ignorant sometimes because many used to think we live in igloos or that America is just the best country and looks down on Canada. I'm not friends with this guy from Virginia anymore...and it's silly because our friendship ended because I was homesick when I moved here couple months ago and I got mad at him for not understanding and he was saying the US is the best place ever and better than everywhere else. He even insulted my ancestor's country (China) and that did it for me. It's funny coz even in school, our teachers would talk about this so much. However, I think there are more americans who are more aware about stuff now and I doubt I will find many that don't know where Canada is or that we live in igloos haha. I live in the states now and I don't mind americans at all...even though big city americans are less nice (but that's anywhere in a metropolis really) , and americans seem to be a lot nicer to canadians now for some reason since the downfall of your economy and also more so than a couple years ago when I was here (a year before Sept. 11/01 ) all in all, I find the average american (not in the big city) though to be quite friendly and nice and I guess it took living here in Ohio for several months for the first time to figure that out but I'm telling you someone else from another country who hasn't done so might not always have that impression. people think americans are just ultimately brainwashed by the government which is kinda true and that's a shame coz many americans are nice but it's the way people are raised in schools and stuff and thats the scary thing about it anywhere really
