Why do guys have to pass me?

Q: Ok,here's one for the guys (but if you ladies have any input, please feel free). I, like many people in my area, ride a scooter when weather permits. I think am a pretty safe rider, and I pay attention to my surroundings. I have noticed that no matter what the road, or the speed limit, or the speed at which i am traveling, men in the other lane will pass me. I have started paying closer attention, and granted, sometimes it is women, but 90% of the time, the passer is a man. I frequently use a long stretch posted 25mph, and honestly tend to ride a touch over that, but they will pass me anyway. I was being lazy a few days ago and using a pickup as a pacer on a 40mph stretch, figuring if I stayed with him I wouldn't have to keep checking my speedometer, but nearing the stoplight, I checked my speedometer and we were going 50mph. So guys, are men really so intimidated by a girl on a scooter that they simply have to get past her at all costs? Please explain how this makes men feel and if and why they feel that it makes them smaller men to allow me and my little scooter to be a couple of feet ahead of their car in the other lane? Is it really a threat or more of a game or a challenge? Thank you for any insight.

A: I am not a guy but I'm guilty of passing people on scooters. I just want to get around them. The scooter is so small, I don't want to accidentally bump them or something. I feel like it's easier for them to watch out for me than me, in my SUV, to watch out for them.
