Do colleges ever make special exceptions for people with certain disabilities or imparments?

Q: I am on the medication Neurontin for nerve issues, and I am having extreme difficulties with word recall, brain fog and the general process of thinking clearly!!! I am in my senior year of college and I have to take calculus as a graduation requirement, the medication is really impairing with my ability to learn (given that I am already quite poor in mathematics). Would you think that if I made a case for this that they may be able to make some sort of accomadation?

A: See if your school has a department for Disabled Services or something like that - almost all schools do these days. They may be able to give you some kind of help like longer test-taking-time, etc, or even campaign for you to take an equivalent but different class.
